Alternate access to Ovid databases

While we continue to experience problems with normal access to Ovid databases, there is an alternate way for on-campus users to successfully access them.

The Alternative Access to Database Lists will provide entry to Ovid databases such as: CINAHL, ERIC, Essential Nursing, Health and Psychosocial Instruments, MEDLINE, Philosopher’s Index and PsycARTICLES.

The link to this list can also be found on the University Libraries home page, underneath “Find Databases”.

If you have any questions please Ask a Librarian.

Ovid databases temporarily unavailable

We are currently experiencing problems with databases provided by Ovid Technologies. This includes: ERIC, Essential Nursing, Health and Psychosocial Instruments, MEDLINE, Philosopher’s Index and PsycARTICLES. We are in communication with WRLC and Ovid, and hope to have the problem resolved tomorrow.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.

Update on Blackwell and Wiley journal migration

After the past weekend’s migration, Wiley InterScience is back online.

However, they are reporting that there is some missing content that they are working to fix. A full list of missing content can be found on their website – scroll down to “What will happen to Blackwell journal content?” : Online Content Transition News

They are also reporting that OpenURL links for journals previously in Blackwell Synergy are undergoing maintenance. For the moment links should at least point to the appropriate journal page in Wiley InterScience, from where you can navigate to the appropriate article. Within a few days this should be corrected and the links should take you directly to the article.

If you have any questions please contact Ask a Librarian.

Blackwell Synergy and Wiley InterScience unavailable June 28 to 29

Due to the merger of publishers Blackwell and Wiley, all content previously available through Blackwell Synergy is being transferred to Wiley InterScience.

Blackwell Synergy will close at the end of the day Friday, June 27. Over the weekend of June 28/29 Wiley InterScience will be unavailable while the migration takes place. Wiley InterScience is expected to resume service on Monday, June 30.

For information on the migration and changes please see the Wiley-Blackwell Online Content Transition News.

Governor General’s Medals for Excellence in Architecture

The Governor General’s Medals for excellence in architecture is a Canadian architecture prize given this year to  Patkau Architects and Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden Architects, both Vancouver-based, as well as Toronto’s Teeple Architects Inc.

We have several books about Patkau Architects here in the EAM Library.  They are a well known Canadian firm designing many buildings throughout the world.  There are a great number of well-known firms mentioned in this little news piece from the Globe and Mail.
