The Orientation 2008 issue of CUA Libraries Online is now available! Inside you can learn about new Associate Provost of University Libraries Dr. Kimberly B. Kelley, new library staff, and get familiar with the services and resources offered by the University Libraries.
The touring exhibit titled “Together in Faith: The Pope Visits Catholic University” has made a stop at Mullen Library. It is located in the first floor lobby and may be viewed during regular library hours until September 5th.
Some of the items included in the exhibit are a papal zucchetto, a museum-grade reproduction of the Letters of St. Peter and the chair designed by CUA students that Pope Benedict XVI used during his his address on Catholic education.
While the physical exhibit will tour several locations on campus, we have also created an online exhibit: Together in Faith. This online exhibit allows you up-close access to the items in the exhibit, as well as further details about the different parts of the exhibit.
Following the exhibit’s stay at Mullen, it will be available for viewing at these locations:

The Summer 2008 issue of Chicago Studies presents the Albert Cardinal Meyers Lecture Series with the theme: “The Theological Contributions of Avery Cardinal Dulles, SJ” including a contribution form Paul McPartlan. The issue can be found in the Religious Studies Library with the current journals.

The USCCB Committee on Divine Worship has recently received recognitio for a revised English translation of the Order of the Mass. The new translation is not yet been implemented for use, but is available on the USCCB website for study.
Notice to CUA Faculty

Beginning in the Fall ’08 semester, CUA Libraries will implement three policy changes to affect faculty borrowing privileges. The changes to policy follow recommendations by the Library Committee of the Academic Senate. The policies will affect only faculty that abuse library privileges egregiously and are as follows:
Failure to return a recalled item within 7 days of its recall due date will result in a fee of $25.00 per item.
Failure to return InterLibrary Loan (ILL) material by the stated due date are subject to any fines and fees imposed by the lending library. In addition, failure to return ILL material within 39 days of the stated due date will result in a fee of $30.00 per item.
Faculty with outstanding library fines or fees (including any WRLC and ILL fees) in excess of $100.00 will lose borrowing privileges until all materials have been returned or renewed and all outstanding fees paid in full.
We are currently experiencing problems with the MetaLib upgrade which affects normal access to the article databases. While the problem is addressed, on-campus users can access the article databases through Alternative Access to Database Lists. If you are off campus, please IM a librarian during business hours for a link to the database you would like to access.
