Leisure reading can sometimes feel at odds with academic life, but reading for pleasure offers benefits that extend well beyond entertainment. It can encourage creativity, strengthen empathy, support well-being, and provide a welcome opportunity to relax and recharge amid the demands of studying, teaching, and research. Academic libraries have a long tradition of supporting leisure reading, recognizing that reading beyond the classroom can be an important part of intellectual life and personal well-being.
Now in its second year, Catholic University Libraries’ Reader’s Service makes finding your next book a little easier. Complete a brief online form telling us about books you have enjoyed—or disliked—along with your favorite genres, interests, and what you are looking for in your next reading experience. Based on your responses, we will provide four or five personalized book recommendations selected with your preferences in mind. Whether you want to discover a new author, explore a different genre, or simply find an enjoyable book, let us help take some of the guesswork out of choosing what to read next. Submit your request through our Reader’s Service submission form.
